About Rich

Richard Gustafson has more than 25 years of residential real estate experience in strategic planning, land acquisition, land planning, entitlement processing, financing, and community and project design. Before co-founding CityMark Development, Gustafson was a senior executive for Shea Homes, holding the position of Director of Acquisition and Development for the San Diego Division, purchasing and managing more than 5,000 lots with an aggregate land value of more than $250 million.

Prior to Shea Homes, Gustafson was senior accountant at Ernst and Young, LLP, managing and performing financial and internal control audits for clients in a variety of fields, specializing in the real estate and savings and loan industries.

Gustafson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Accounting from Claremont McKenna College and is a licensed General Contractor. He is also on the Board of Directors of the NTC Foundation, Board member of the Little Italy Association, and a member of Lambda Alpha International (LAI). He has served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Building Industry Association (BIA), is currently Chair of the Urban Council, and is a member of its President’s Council. He has also served on the CCDC Affordable Housing Task Force and the Downtown Residential Marketing Alliance.
